BIOL385 - Computer Skills for Biotechnology

Dr. Weissig has established notoriety as an outstanding instructor of computer techniques, and bioinformatics. With a background in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics, he teaches related courses at UCSD Extension. He is currently Director of Bioinformatics at ActivX Biosciences, a local drug development company. As an active member of the local bioinformatics community, he has co-founded the San Diego Bioinformatics Discussion Forum. Dr. Weissig’s background includes Project Manager at the Protein Data Bank at the San Diego Super Computer Center. He has conducted research at The Burnham Institute, the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology and the Albert-Ludwigs University in Germany. Dr. Weissig has authored contributions to many journal articles, books, and conference proceedings and he has co-edited the text book Structural Bioinformatics
