The Home Work Project

A large portion of the course's grade will be determined based on a project which every student should complete and submit no later than the beginning of the last day of classes. The project is broken into sections equivalent to the course materials covered. The section assignments and questions will be made available on a weekly basis as forms in the course page section of each student. Each section should take no longer than 2 hours to complete and should be finished by the next day of classes. Every student should be prepared to talk about his or her results for the project section at the beginning of the next class.

Most home work questions and assignments will focus on the "pet protein" assigned to students at the beginning of the course. There will be very few "knowledge questions" (those will come in the 5 quizzes), instead, emphasis is put on the use of applicable internet resources. For example, the assignment for week 2 could require the identification of resources which hold specific information for a particular protein. In week 5, students might be requested to "model" a related sequence based on their pet protein's structure.

As mentioned above, assignements will be provided as HTML forms. There will be very little requirements in terms of the HTML language itself but students will be expected to be able to use a web browser of their choice and its cut & paste functionality for example. Once submitted, answers can be modified up until the last day of classes.

Note that the home work project pages are only available to the instructor and the student based on a simple security mechanism.
